This is my contest entry for my friend ^NikiVandermosten's Freeze Frame Contest!
It is my absolutely favourite scene from Hayao Miyazaki's "Howl's Moving Castle". Hopefully you'll recognize it!
I absolutely love Hayao Miyazaki's films, and "Howl's Moving Castle" seems to be my favourite, which is why I drew a scene from there. However, I was also considering "Spirited Away", since that is my second-best.
I might not not good in English, but hope you can understand.
First of all, this is amazing piece. I love your idea of creating both of them with this scene. I also like the way you shading your art. The grey color make me feel warm on this art
My critique is on the male face balance. U see that his right chin not same as his left side. thats make his face not looks balance. His lips also too down. raise it up a litlle and it will be great
I dont have any critique for the female character. She looks very beautiful. Maybe only her finger that is too small IMO.
No problems. That is just a minor critique. U already did amazing jobs in this art. I love the detail U gave for teh feather and the shade.
Ok, I'm going to write this critique about the drawing itself, not the fact its going to be in a contest.
I've never seen that anime, but that's not the point. Apparently it is a scene from it. For that, you did quite well. I tried to stop a scene while drawing it, the result was so bad. So you did a great job.
On to the details: You used a pencil, that means a lot to me. I'm an absolute pencil fan, so you got bonus points just for that .
Next: I noticed there is a lot of light and shadow in it. It takes long to draw them really good with a pencil. I like the way you made the wings, they look so blurry but sharp at the same time.
Anime style, as usual. Spikey hair, big eyes, you know what I mean. Matches perfectly. BUT, I have a lot of trouble to recognize the feeling/emotions from the characters. I cannot say if the scene is from a good or a bad/sad situation. The big guy looks like he's smiling, the girl (Is she a girl?) looks worried ^^. But that's the only negative thing I saw on this.
Full 5 stars on originality, since I rarely see drawings from an actual scene.
4 stars on technique, because I like the way you draw this with a pencil, but as I said, I cannot say if they are happy or sad.
4 on vision. I can see who's on the picture, but not what's going on.
So 5 on impact, because it left somehow a mark on me. This work has something I cannot describe ^^.
Thanks for doing something that interesting, please make something like that again soon!
